HOUSE/REC REGISTRATION

Coming Summer 2026

Welcome to OJM Youth Hockey

Youth hockey has grown tremendously in the past two seasons. The Ogden Jr Mustangs youth hockey teams are sustained with volunteer effort.  If the Ogden Jr Mustangs program is the right fit for your player and family, please consider volunteering to keep the program available in the local community.  Registrations at all Utah youth programs are expected to reach capacity prior to the start of the season. Don't delay registering your player(s).

The House Recreation divisions are open to the public.  No tryouts. Practices will be on Saturdays and Sundays at the Weber County Ice Sheet.  Weeknight skills sessions will be provided at the Weber County Ice Sheet (8U - 14U Coed House divisions) as part of the House/Rec Division offerings. These sessions will be expanded to provide a better player to coach ratio during the 2026-27 season.

The Lady Jr Mustangs may offer all-girls programming depending on the interest level of the OJM female participants.

All practice, game and jamboree ice is purchased from the Weber County Ice Sheet.  Weber County owns the Ice Sheet and sells ice to entities such as the Jr Mustangs Hockey Program.  The Weber County Ice Sheet administers the Learn to Skate program, the Stick and Puck sessions and the Drop-In sessions.  A variety of instructors and programs offer one-on-one training, clinics and camps throughout the spring and summer months. Visit the rink bulletin boards for postings regarding non-OJM training and other hockey offerings.

The Ogden Jr Mustangs are a program of USA Hockey federation.  Every participant including players, volunteers and coaches must register with USA Hockey annually.  Visit https://membership.usahockey.com/   to register and view member benefits.

The parent/guardians who register an OJM player(s) will receive an email with the early player registration link. If your player participated on an OJM team in the immediate, preceding season and an early registration link was not received, reach out to admin@jrmustangshockey.com. The early registration email will go to the email provided by the person who completed the registration in the preceding season.

Those who participated in Learn to Play Hockey or Continue to Play Hockey will receive an early registration email.

Registration for the public will open a week after the early registration opens. Public registration will be posted on the Jr Mustangs website and in social media posts.

After registering your player, an invitation to join your player's 2026-27 TeamSnap roster will be sent to the email of the person who completed the registration.  Please download or update TeamSnap App on your mobile phone or device to receive team information.

Neck Guards are Required.  Players without a Neck Guard will NOT be permitted on the ice.  This is a newer USA Hockey rule.

  • The House Rec league begins their skills session in early October for the 6U and older divisions.
  • All practices will be on Saturdays and some Sundays.  Skills sessions will be scheduled on weeknights.
  • Program and Team information will be available via the Teamsnap App.  Be patient as team managers are recruited and trained. The OJM team managers will communicate team practices as soon as they are known. Team managers will populate your team's practice schedule.  Refer to the TeamSnap schedule throughout the season.
  • Eligible coaches will be identified on your TeamSnap roster once they clear the mandatory credential and training requirements. Coaches whose credentials expire during the season will be removed from the roster and will not be eligible to continue with the team.

Birth Certificate Upload
It is a USA Hockey requirement that all first-time players, who are NEW to USA Hockey submit their birth certificate to verify the players birth date.  This is done once in a lifetime with USA Hockey. A player is not eligible to participate until the birth certificate is uploaded and the State Registrar clears the player. Link: https://forms.gle/jqbzkDbLAPvGYomD7

Birth Certificates submitted to USA Gymnastics, USA Soccer or other federation cannot be used by the program or State Registrar.  Please submit your player's birth certificate via the secure link provided above.  Do not send your birth certificate to the team manager or other OJM staff person.

4U Intro to Hockey Series
New to the Ogden Jr Mustangs program is an introductory series for children aged 4 and under. This is a very basic introduction to youth hockey.  It is for players who have completed a 6-8 week Learn to Skate program at any rink, and have their own gear.  Sessions will be held as interest demands.  Each session is approximately 30-45 minutes to accommodate the attention span and stamina of children this age. Full gear is required.  OJM does not carry gear in this size to loan out. This age division does not play games.  The focus is an introduction to hockey, short in duration and at a reduced cost relative to other age divisions.

6U House/Recreation Program - Birth Years 2020 & 2021
The 6U program is an entry level, developmental program. The season begins the first or second week in October. Tuition includes weekly Saturday or Sunday practices and a weeknight skills session directed by Perfect Skating Utah. A reversible player jersey and socks costs extra. Player provides their own protective gear. Player's may use last season's Champro-brand reversible jersey and socks. Upon registration, a player is placed into their TeamSnap age group roster. The 6U division is limited to those born in 2020 and 2021. This is not a competitive division. The focus is on creating familiarity with the sport and fun. The practice sessions utilize the USA Hockey American Development Model.  Games are de-emphasized at this division and are not guaranteed. Players who start organized hockey before 4 years of age may be at this level for 3 or more years.  The program is impacted and will not bump age-appropriate players from participation to accommodate players outside of the age-specific birth years. The season is intended to end in February so that players can participate in other Spring sports.

The practice sessions utilize the USA Hockey American Development Model (ADM).  Games are de-emphasized at this division and are not guaranteed. The program may create tournament rosters for the player and families who desire jamboree opportunities against higher skilled 8U players and are comfortable with the additional costs and travel. The offering of a tournament roster is at the discretion of the House/Rec Division dDrector, the OJM Hockey Director, the OJM Board of Directors and is governed by the Utah Amateur Hockey Association policies regarding tournament rosters at the 8U division.

House/Recreation Tournament Rosters
Tournament rosters may be formed if there is enough interest, skill, coach availability, ice and executive leadership support to form a Tournament Roster at the various age divisions. Evaluation criteria applied will vary across the age divisions. The OJM Hockey Director, Division Director and Board of Directors retain the discretion to offer a tournament experience within OJM's House/Rec age groups or in partnership with other Utah House/Recreation programs.  Any such formation will be in accordance with the governing policies of USA Hockey, Utah Amateur Hockey Association and the Ogden Jr Mustangs leadership.  There will be additional costs and travel associated with such offerings. Associated expenses are covered by the parent/guardian.  A House/Recreation Tournament offering is not guaranteed from season to season.  Too many factors influence the ability to form such rosters and opportunities and will not be addressed until after the start of the season.
